University of the Streets – July 24, 2010

July 22, 2010

First, thanks to all of you who have been coming out to listen.  It’s necessary to have your ears. Without them, we can just stay home and play for ourselves, which is ok, but, it’s fun to share.

This Saturday, 7/24, will be the first time I’m playing at The University of the Streets.  It’s a concert venue which also serves snacks and beer and wine.  It’s only $12 to get in and no other purchase is necessary.

I’ll be playing with some old old friends.  Bob and Joe joined me on some of my first jazz gigs in the 1970s. The rest of the band is not so old.

We’ll be playing standards from the American Songbook as well as some bebeop tunes, Tristano, Monk, Konitz and who knows what else.  There is no set list.  We’ll decide in the moment.

The address is 130 East 7th Street in Manhattan.  The hall is one flight up.
We begin at 8:00 P.M.,  and will end around 10:30 or 11:00 P.M.
